University of Toledo Blue Crew

Blue Crew Alumni

After honorably serving a minimum four active semesters or graduation, a Blue Crew member earns the prestigious status of Blue Crew Alumni.  Once Alum, the member can go through what is called a "demasking."  Here, the member for the first time will have the ability to take his mask off to the world, showing who they really are.

Blue Crew Alumni have joined together to form the University of Toledo Blue Crew Alumni Association.  Here, we strive to give back to both our alma mater and to our organizations.  They do events like having a Homecoming tailgate along with just dressing with the active members.  You will for sure see us all the time!

Feel free to scroll down the list of alumni.  Going over their picture will reveal who they really are!

Initiation Date/Unmasking Date: 9/2/2000 - 4/26/2004

What am I doing now:
I graduated from UT in May 2003 and was employed with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a healthcare representative (sales rep). At that time I was living in Fort Wayne, IN. While employed with Pfizer, I met my wife who is also a sales rep for Pfizer. When I proposed, I had just received a huge career advancement to another pharmaceutical company called Sepracor. I am currently attending graduate school after doing Pharmaceutical Sales for 5 years. I live in Indianapolis, IN with my wife, one Old English Sheep dog, and 2 cats. Fun fact, I live 1 minute walking distance from a bar called Blue Crew!!! (The name of the Indy Colts fanatics)

What I enjoy about the organization:
I most enjoy the memories and opportunities. BC opened so many doors and relationships for me by being involved with UT athletics and campus activities. I will carry the memories with me where ever I go. Remember, only a small select number of students will ever be a part of what we are.

My favorite moment in Blue Crew: Favorite moment was the first road trip we ever had as BC! We drove all day to Penn State. There were only 4 of us at that time, but we screamed our heads off as UT destroyed Penn State that year. That night we were invited to celebrate with alumni and cheerleaders. That was our first road trip ever. After that we began to fill the ranks.

My favorite moment in Blue Crew: Leaving the University of Marshall stadium after beating them (badly) in a regular season game in 2003 and seeing the faces of some of the proudest fans in the country.  Bad experience the year before down their, but that moment made up for it.

What am I doing now:
Currently, I still live in Rocket Country.  I am married to Kari King.  We have two dogs, no kids and are living the dream.

Why I joined Blue Crew:
The reason I wanted to join Blue Crew was to show my rocket pride.  I went to every football, basketball volleyball games attended many other activities throughout out my years at UT, and wanted a way to show others what I loved about Toledo.

My favorite moment in Blue Crew:
The University of Central Florida game in fall of 02.  Maverick, Hollywood, Rockette, BlackJack and myself went to the game.  When we got to the game, there were about 1000 or so Rocket fans sitting in one section at the Citrus bowl stadium.   It was not going well at half time, rockets were down a few scores.  The wind taken out of our (BC) sales, we weren’t doing our job, we weren’t getting the rocket fans excited to cheer on their team.  It took a Toledo fan to approach all of the BC and called us out and said that aren’t we supposed to be getting the fans involved to help our Rockets win.  For me that was gut check, he was right.  So from then on we spread out each took a small section, and made everyone stand up and Get LOUD and CRAZY.  Well it worked we came back in the second half to win 27 – 24.  It was one of the greatest games I have ever seen.  The best part was when the players were walking off the field in front of the UT fans.  They all stopped turned to the crowd and started cheering and clapping in appreciation of the fans for helping them WIN the game.  It was such a cool feeling, it is very hard to describe.

What I enjoy about the organization:
I enjoy/enjoyed the secrecy as well as the pride and enthusiasm we are able to instill in all we meet.   Being part of something that students and the community can rally around, regardless of how young or old is really special.

My favorite moment in Blue Crew: My favorite memory of Blue Crew had to be the come from behind win over (at the time) No. 9 Pittsburgh in the Glass Bowl on September 20th .  The emotion was palpable that evening, and it was right before Deo came into the group, and I remember looking over at him with about 45 seconds left, and saw him crying from sheer emotion.   You just can't get better than that kind of game.

What I enjoy about the organization:
If I had to pick one thing, I think it would be the companionship that I got from this group.  I know no matter how I feel, the minute I am dressed with my fellow Blue Crew members, I feel a lot better.  A bunch of crazy go getters can make anyone Pretty Darn Awesome.

My favorite moment in Blue Crew: The best memory I have is the first time I dressed.  It was at Bowling Green University and I remember being terrified.  I have never been called so many names in my life.  But we also beat Sic Sic in flag football and won the game!

Initiation Date/Unmasking Date: 4/9/2006 - 4/6/2009

Why I joined Blue Crew: Because they kick butt.  They are the most energetic, high spirited, awesome group that is on campus.  No one can hold a candle to them.  But what's best about it, is they don't do it for fame, they do it for the university.  That drew me to them.

My favorite Blue Crew memory: Basically every one of them.  Every time I am with the group, I am having an amazing time.  It makes me love the group more and more.

Initiation Date/Unmasking Date: 10/22/2006 - 6/18/2008

Why I joined:
I really admired the passion, pride, appreciation, and respect Blue Crew had (and has!) for the University of Toledo and its traditions.  I believe that everything worth doing should be done whole-heartedly and Blue Crew definitely embraces that ideal. I wanted to be a part of an organization that makes UT an enjoyable place for students and fans and I'm very grateful I got that chance!

My favorite moment in Blue Crew: The road trip to Buffalo, NY.  I have never laughed like that in forever!

Initiation Date/Unmasking Date: 9/8/2007-4/8/2009

What I am doing now: Currently, I am still in school finishing up my undergrad in Criminal Justice. Additionally, I also work for a private police dept. in Sandusky, OH. After the spring of 2009, I will be actively pursuing full time job opportunities in the Northwest Ohio area for Law Enforcement. You can still find me randomly around campus on a beautiful day!

Why I joined: I absolutely LOVE Toledo and everything about it! When I first came to college (Fall of 2003), the group was blossoming and I couldn't wait to be a part of it! However, my focus was more on the Rocket Marching Band, the girlfriend (we are still dating!) and academics. Not until the spring of 2007 did I find the courage to try to become a member of Blue Crew! After numerous years of watching Blue Crew, I felt that I was capable of joining their ranks and contributing my service to the University of Toledo. I wanted to give 110% to the University that provided me with so many opportunities, open doors and cherished memories. I am glad I earned the opportunity to become a member and alumni; I got to be a part of a tradition that helps make UT an awesome place for students and the University of Toledo community. We found each other in the Fall of 2007 and I never looked back!! GO ROCKETS!!

Favorite Moment in Blue Crew: There are so many! It was the most awesome 2 years of my life thus far. However I would have to say...Retreat 2008 and BEATING Michigan (IN the Big House)13-10!!! After the game was over Pyro, Giggles, myself, Miss Sunshine and Stitch went out and about into downtown Ann Arbor. We got dinner at "Pot Belly" and ate Ben and Jerry's ice cream for dessert. Seeing that we were in the heart of Michigan's campus, we thought it fitting to celebrate by BLARING "U of Toledo" out of my car (full blast) whilst circling Michigan's main campus several times! I have never gotten that many angry looks in my life!! Oh and Giggles made a mess with her ice cream in my backseat in a fit of joy:-P!

Wig Number : 59
What I am doing now: Currently working towards a BA in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Military Science. Upon graduating I will commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army

Why I joined: I enjoy being able to show my Rocket spirit in a non-traditional way. When you are in mask and wig, no one knows who you are so you can just act a fool and not care who witnesses it. Additionally, I enjoy the fact that we reach so many people. Whether, it be on a community service basis or at any one sporting event. In Blue Crew you truly have an opportunity to Pay It Forward. At the end of the day it is all about giving back to the University as a whole, as well all students past, present and future.

Favorite Moment in Blue Crew: My favorite moment in BC was being initiated. It changed my life. It just unraveled a whole string of great memories, friends, inside jokes, and times I will never forget. Looking back now I wouldn't change a thing. bgsuCKS!!
